Action ratchets up a notch Feb-March 2023

Those staff employed by Falmouth University will be taking part in the big national day of action on 1st February 2023.

The day is about taking a stand on our 4 big concerns – shrinking pay, punishing workloads, precarity and inequality in the sector.

Let’s make this action very big and very loud, get the employers back to the table with an offer to tackle these problems so we can get back to work.

The NEU, ASLEF, PCS and RMT will also be striking and TUC have declared this ‘protect the right to strike’ day. It’s time to take a very big and noisy stand against not only the exploitation and undervaluing of us and our work, but to fight the government’s threat to restrict our right to strike in future.

In Falmouth we’ll be picketing with snacks, music, dogs and perhaps children (as teachers are also striking!). We’ll hand out leaflets that explain the need for the strike. Please join or come by to say hello.

Last November we had three days of fantastic teach-outs (including the beach art, poster making and a People’s Assembly. This time there are more – including a Story Dice workshop. And for those unable to join pickets in person, we have a virtual picket. For details of the activities, times and places see the events tab above.
